The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has condemned remarks that were attributed to President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, on alleged violations in the university’s rights admissions practices.

The union president in an interview admitted that university admissions were handled by JAMB and later forwarded to vice-chancellors to be approved. He said this was in violation of the university law as well as JAMB was acting outside of its authority.

The spokesperson for JAMB the spokesperson for the board, Dr. Fabian Benjamin in a statement made the 12th of June stated that prof. Osodeke had no idea about admissions procedures since the board is not able to make admissions decisions for universities and other tertiary institutions like it is claimed.

The board challenged for the teacher to submit a university vice-chancellor, polytechnic rector, or provost from any school of education with one applicant who was granted acceptance by JAMB without having been advised by the institution.

The company also promised the professor with a cash reward of one million naira, if they can prove the falsehood by providing any evidence.
